More details have been revealed ahead of the opening of a new Norwich tapas bar in the former site of a popular city cafe.

Bar Cerdita will open in London Street at the former home of artsy cafe Artel and be owned by Benoli boss Oliver Boon.

The bar is planning to open this summer and has now applied to serve its delicacies on tables and chairs in the street.

Renovation work is underway at the building with new luminous signs, bar area and ovens all being installed.

Wooden floorboards have been restored and the interior has been painted red.

The bar will also feature art from Pigcasso, a rescued pig with a love for painting.

With his Benoli restaurant Mr Boon has featured in the Michelin Guide 2023 and received a glowing review from Grace Dent in the Guardian last year, who said: "If this place was closer to my house, I would eat here a lot."

It is also running a competition on its Instagram account ahead of the opening to win two tickets for the opening night along with a £100 voucher.

Those wishing to comment on the alfresco dining application have until July 14.
