A city centre barber shop is set to close to become an apartment.

Plans will see Enzo barbers in St Vedast Street, between Prince of Wales Road and Rose Lane, close to become a two-bedroom home after plans were submitted to Norwich City Council.

The shop is owned by Enzo Casale who cut city folk's hair for more than 50 years before retiring in 2019, to become a landlord.

His second shop in Aylsham Road, run by his son Ottavio, will remain open.

The plans would make the entire building residential, with a one-bedroom flat already in use on the first floor.

Work will see walls repainted to a lighter shade of blue and grey.

It comes amid a season of change for city centre shops, with the long empty O2 store in Castle Street to be filled by Cornish Bakery and Dune London preparing to open a new shop in the former home of Jojo Maman Bebe in Back of the Inns.

Despite no provision for car parking, the city council's highways team said it had no issue with the plans as they had sufficient room for cycles.

Those wishing to comment on plans have until July 18, with hopes a decision will be reached by August 18.
