A popular city centre pub is "over the moon" to reopen its riverside jetty following an extensive renovation.

The Ribs of Beef, in Wensum Street, unveiled its new drinking area on social media.

The work was carried out because the previous jetty, built in the 90s, was in urgent need of refurbishment.

Matt Hunter, assistant manager, said: "We're delighted to be able to welcome people to our brand new riverside jetty.

"We've always enjoyed having a riverside spot for food and drinks all day, so it's been a tough few months without it.

"It's also a great spot for nature lovers to see the families of Egyptian geese and swans that we share the river with, alongside the occasional otter."

The original 14th-century building on the site was largely destroyed in a great fire in 1507 and has been a free house for most of its life.

Mr Hunter added: "This brand new outdoor seating area compliments additional riverside views both from our back garden and tables on Fye Bridge itself, so we can't wait to invite people down."
