Police have cordoned off a busy area of Costessey while they investigate an incident that happened in the early hours of the morning.
Forensic experts have been at the scene, near to the Crown pub, while uniformed officers have been searching the area, as well as nearby gardens.
Police have not released details of the nature of the incident, but neighbours said a woman in distress was seen in the area between 5am and 6am and officers were called.
One woman, who lives nearby, said that after the police arrived, she saw a person covered in an emergency blanket.
The cordon remains in place around a bus stop, in Norwich Road, with officers still at the scene this afternoon.
CID officers were seen placing index cards on the ground.
The cordon extends all the way around the bus stop, a piece of grass, and a nearby tree.
The area is surrounded by a parade of shops. One business owner, who asked to remain anonymous, said: "The police came by to look at my CCTV earlier."
"They asked me to go to 5.30 in the morning and watched from there.
"Once they were done, they started searching for something in the nearby gardens."
Police officers at the scene declined to comment.
