A vegan kebab shop in the city is set to close its doors at the end of the summer.

Anne Schröer has announced she will be closing Doner Bei Tante Anne, in Wensum Street, at the end of August after two years in NR3.

The former care worker, originally from Cologne in Germany, said she wanted to work on a "more sustainable work-life-balance" in an emotional post on social media.

Ms Schröer said: "I've had some very beautiful two years, a wonderful experience, hard work, but very rewarding and so many lovely customers and conversations."

In an Instagram post, she said: "There are a lot of reasons which brought me to that decision, but I can happily say that it was not because it failed and I am very proud of that.

"And that is of course as well because of you all."

Support flooded in from businesses and customers who were sad to see the business closing.

Ms Schröer added: "You all have been, and still are, fantastic and welcomed me so brilliantly as a new restaurant in Norwich.

"So many of you became regular customers.

"That is amazing and means so much to me.

"Don't leave here, as I will try and pop up regularly, because I don't want to quit cooking, I love it.

"But I will have to find a way to make it more sustainable for me, for example in terms of work-life balance.

"I will keep you updated where I will pop up, so we won't have to say goodbye for good, don't worry.

"But for now, let's enjoy the time and food together until the end of August and celebrate that love for cabbage.

"Thank you all, massively."

The menu features a doner kebab made with seitan, a vegan meat substitute, as well as Greek-style potato wedges in naan bread and a choice of soups.
