A 'secret' city tattoo studio is planning to move to a new home in the NR3 area.

The New Leaf tattoo parlour is planning to move from its current home in Upper King Street to 128 Magdalen Street in the former S&J Seafood fishmongers.

During its time in Upper King Street, the business has kept its location a secret from customers only revealing it once a booking has been made.

Boss Poppy Segger says she chose to move her business as it had outgrown its current home, with plans to take on more staff allowing her to extend her services.

The business now plans to offer more scar cover-up work and make itself more accessible to the disabled as it will have no stairs, unlike the current premises.

Its secretive nature will remain at the new site with plans to paint the building peach but have no sign for its name.

The planning application states Ms Segger plans to make as few alterations to the business as possible.

She said: "We're looking to expand so we can get more staff in and have more space to work.

"It's the perfect area for us, it's really up and coming and we love a lot of the other businesses around us."

She hopes her connections to other NR3 businesses will allow for collaborative pop-ups in her studio.

Ms Segger has been tattooing since 2013 and saw a dream come true last year when she opened the Upper King Street business, which did a roaring trade.

New Leaf also employs a semi-permanent make-up artist who aims to help those with medical conditions such as alopecia.

If approved the business will open from 10.30am to 6.30pm from Monday to Saturday.

Those wishing to comment on the plans have until August 18, with hopes a decision will be made by September 11.
