The owners of a barbershop are looking ahead to what the future may hold after a successful start to life in the city.

Son of the Bear Barbershop opened in Kett's Hill in April and has swiftly found success and renown with customers.

Ross Mathieson, who opened the shop with his best friend Jake Swanton, said: "We've been super busy since opening and are fully booked about two weeks in advance which is great.

"The success is coming along quicker than we thought and there's so much potential for us going forward.

"I'll look at things after the first year, but hopefully we'll build to the future.

"Whether it's franchising or opening another shop - possibly a specialised hair replacement service which requests are flying through for.

Just two weeks ago, the shop emerged as one of five finalists for Modern Barbers' best photographic image.

Ross added: "Being nominated by Modern Barber is overwhelming - I only found out a couple of weeks ago that I was one of five for the finals in October.

"There are some big names nominated, so to be in the top five is huge for me."
