A car was found battered and abandoned in a city park this morning - prompting speculation as to how it got there.

The vehicle, a silver Toyota Auris, was discovered wedged between a tree and a hedge near the western pedestrian entrance of Jenny Lind Park earlier today (August 16).

According to those who discovered it, it was not there last night and can be seen with some severe damage to its rear bumper and bodywork.

What's more, the west entrance restricts access for vehicles via several wooden bollards, suggesting the vehicle had driven across the grass from the south entrance to reach its final destination.

Nestled within a quiet residential area, Jenny Lind Park has two sports courts, a disused toilet block and a children's playground alongside the housing built on the site of the original Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

A notice attached to the car's dashboard said that police had been made aware and recovery vehicles were expected shortly.
