City children have been crying tears of joy and disappointment as they discovered their GCSE results.
Norwich students gathered to find out if they had made the grade with schools reporting another year of strong results.
At Norwich High School for Girls, five pupils received straight 9-8 grades with more than half achieving the top marks in English.
Alison Sefton, the school's head, said: “I am so proud of all our year 11 students today.

"As a year group, they have supported each other and worked so well with teachers to reach this point in their education.
"These well-rounded individuals have something important to contribute to their communities and they should be really proud of their achievements."
Hethersett Academy saw one of the city's most impressive showings with 85pc of its pupils receiving grades of 9-4 in all subjects, while 80pc of its maths and English grades were ranked between 9 and 4 - the equivalent of A* to C pass grades from the previous marking system,
One of the school's most impressive achievers was Leonard Werner, who received grades higher than 5 in nine different subjects.

He was pleased to see all of his revision had paid off, saying: "There’s no experience like I’m experiencing right now."
Another top-performing Hethersett pupil, Pallavi Shastri, said her results would allow her to move on to Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form.

She said: "I’m extremely happy, I’m really pleased with all my results.
"I’m really looking forward to sixth form at Sir Isaac Newton.

"I will be studying all three sciences as well as maths and I am so excited to start.”
At Jane Austin College 71pc got grades between 9 and 4 in maths and English with six students achieving 7 and higher in all of their subjects.
One of those, Suhani Patni, who achieved eight grade 9s and two 8s, said: “I am really happy with my results, they are beyond my expectations.”
