From food festivals to Harry Potter stars, these are the major events running in Norfolk in September 2023.
1. Sundown Festival, New Costessey
Where: Norfolk Showground, Dereham Road, New Costessey, NR5 0TT
When: September 1-3

Norfolk's biggest music festival returns at the start of September, with the headliners Tion Wayne on Saturday and Chase and Status on Sunday.
Other big names performing at the festival include Raye, Joel Corry and Example.

2. North Norfolk Food and Drink Festival, Holkham
Where: Holkham Hall, Holkham Road, Wells-next-the-Sea, NR23 1AB
When: September 2-3, 10am-4pm

This popular event returns to the Walled Garden at Holkham Hall for its 14th year with 70 artisan producer stands, selling everything from cheese to jam.
There will also be a street food area, a bar run by Malt Coast Brewery and you can pick up some tips in the Arthur Howell Cookery Theatre.
3. Foodies Festival, Norwich
Where: Earlham Park, Norwich, NR4 7TQ
When: September 8: 12noon-9pm, September 9: 11am-9pm and September 10: 11am-8pm

This touring food festival is back in Earlham Park for its second year and it will feature cookery demonstrations from talented Norfolk chefs and MasterChef stars.
Live music is also a big part of the event, with the headliners an Abba tribute band on Friday, Blue on Saturday and Toploader on Sunday.

4. Norfolk Heritage Open Days, Norfolk-wide
Where: Events across Norfolk
When: September 8-17

England's largest festival of history and culture is back and the Norfolk programme is coordinated by The Forum in Norwich.
More than 200 free events are running in Norfolk, with the chance to explore hidden gems and go behind the scenes in historic buildings.
5. Out There Festival, Great Yarmouth
Where: Various locations in Great Yarmouth
When: September 15-17
Price: Most events are free with some ticketed events, outtherearts.org.uk
Out There Festival in Great Yarmouth is a celebration of outdoor arts, circus and culture.
This year’s event will be a special 15th birthday edition and visitors can expect the liveliest programme yet.
A major highlight will be the ticketed event in the evening on Friday and Saturday at St Nicholas Car Park South, with circus and tightrope entertainment from Les Filles Du Renard Pale Resiste.

6. Steam Back to the Forties, Sheringham, Weybourne and Holt
Where: North Norfolk Railway, Sheringham (NR26 8RA), Weybourne (NR25 7HN) and Holt (NR25 6QR)
When: September 16-17
Price: Adults: one day - £27.50, two days - £48, children: £14/£28, nnrailway.co.uk
Swing back in time for a weekend of live music, classic vehicles, vintage trade stands, historical displays and wartime fashions, all accompanied by a frequent steam service.
Head to Sheringham Station to experience 'The Home Front', take part in 'The Officers’ Tea Dance' at Weybourne and see 'The Grand Exhibition' at Holt.

7. Nor-Con, New Costessey
Where: Norfolk Showground, Dereham Road, New Costessey, NR5 0TT
When: September 23: 10.30am-5pm, September 24: 10.30am-4pm, early access tickets are from 9.30am on both days
Price: Adults (14+) day tickets: £15-£20, weekend: £39, children (6-13): £9-£10/£19, under 5s go free, nor-con.co.uk
Nor-Con, Norfolk's TV, Film and Comic Convention, returns to the Norfolk Showground with displays, exhibits, celebrities, talks and lots of traders.
The celebrities appearing include Harry Potter's Chris Rankin and Jeff Rawle and Red Dwarf co-creator Doug Nayler.
