A yurt has opened in the city for people to "rest, recharge and switch off" from the "pressure" of busy life.

The Ash Tree, in Plumstead Road, offers a holistic approach to wellbeing, with workshops and therapeutic practices.

Opening today (September 2), there will be classes for children and adults, including yoga, reiki, massages, meditation, sound healing, wellbeing workshops and fitness sessions in the yurt and surrounding grounds.

Owner Tara Galvin, 35, "fell in love with the space" as it was "instantly calming", and will run the non-profit business while keeping her NHS job.

"I believe a holistic approach recognises and honours the interconnectedness of various aspects of our lives - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual - and how they collectively contribute to our wellbeing.

"By providing a sanctuary for people to explore, heal, and grow, The Ash Tree offers a haven where people can embrace their journey of self-discovery and renewal."

Classes can be booked in advance via email or Instagram and cost around £10 to £20.
