The University of East Anglia has paid tribute to an ex-student after a body was found in the search missing poet Gboyega Odubanjo.
Odubanjo was last seen at the Shambala music festival in Kelmarsh, Northamptonshire, at around 4am on Saturday (August 26), having been invited to read poetry at the event the following day.
In a statement issued today (August 31), Northamptonshire Police said: “A body has sadly been found during the search for a 27-year-old man reported missing in Kelmarsh.
“Police officers made the discovery shortly before 9am on Thursday, August 31, in the course of a specialised search of the area.
“While formal identification has yet to take place, the man’s family has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.”
A UEA spokesman speaking to the BBC, where Mr Odubanjo studied between 2014 and 2019, called him a "well-loved and respected member of UEA's Arts and Humanities community".
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
The 27-year-old’s family, friends and supporters from across the country launched a social media campaign and organised search parties in the area.
