A Norwich pensioner is fearing for her life after water issues caused by years of dodgy drainage worsened, leaving her unable to use any kitchen appliances.
Christine Mays, 70, who lives in Bull Close Road in the city's NR3 area, has put up with flooding caused by the pipes for more than 10 years claiming the plumbing in her house is "all round the wrong way".
Ms Mays, who has lived in her home for 26 years, says she has been unable to use electrical items in her kitchen including the cooker, which has caught fire once, and her washing machine has been covering clothes in "black stuff".

She says Norwich City Council's drain doctors have been out on numerous occasions but have failed to fix the problem and is now unable to persuade them to return.
Ms Mays said: "I'm in danger here.
"In a normal house with normal drainage, the water goes down, but mine goes up.
"My cooker is going wrong as a result, the whole home is just not safe with the water leaking.

"I can't use the washing machine either, it makes a right mess of my clothes, its spewing stuff out everywhere.
"The drain doctors have been round but they just bodge it up, I'll end up dead at this rate.
"Honestly, you've never seen anything like it."
Ms Mays, who suffers with a disability, says she had been putting up with the issues, but now believes the situation has become too dangerous and is an "emergency".

She believes issues are being caused by pipes not being properly connected to the drain and poor piping burning due to the heat of the oven.
Ms Mays added: "I don't deserve this, my drains stink, I can't carry on like this.
"It's a nightmare, my brother knows more about this sort of thing than I do and he's concerned.
"Someone needs to knock some sense into the council."
