A mother said she was forced to call paramedics after her two-year-old son fell ill moments after eating a chicken nugget from a fast food chain.

Melissa Johnson, 32, who lives in North Walsham, said she ordered a meal for her son Zac on April 27 from the Burger King in Sweet Briar Road.

She claims that two hours later the toddler was left shivering, repeatedly vomiting and passing in and out of consciousness.

"He has been completely put off food since the incident and refuses to eat anything I give him now, it's a horrible thing for such a young child to go through."

Miss Johnson, who was seven months pregnant at the time, has attempted to contact a representative for the fast food chain but is still waiting for a response.

She said: "The outcome I want from Burger King is compensation for the heartache and inconvenience caused and the stress and mental anguish it has put my little boy and our family through.

"I have never seen my little boy violently ill like that before it was very distressing, for me and for him."

A spokeswoman for Burger King said: "We have been made aware of the alleged incident that occurred at the Sweet Briar Road Burger King restaurant.

"Food safety, hygiene and quality are a top priority at Burger King restaurants, and we work to ensure all necessary measures are carried out to maintain a clean and safe environment for our guests while serving the highest-quality meals.

"We are investigating this matter as a priority.”
