County Hall has left folk living in one city street confused after carrying out resurfacing work on just one side of the pavement – with no plans to revamp the opposite path.
In an extraordinary move the county council decided to repair the west side of Portland Street but will leave the east side cracked and battered.
The repair work, which started on September 4 by Highways, has left neighbours on the west side of the road happy with a swanky new pathway.
But, after nearly four weeks of roadworks, those living on the east side of the street have slammed the council's "one-sided approach".

"It wasn't until the work progressed and a conversation with contractors, I realised our side wasn't being worked on.
"I don't know if the council are ever going to resurface our side of the street, but it seems poor value for money to assemble all the materials, equipment and contractors and only do half the job.
"Also, it means half the people living along here who are also taxpayers, suffer the same disruption and get nothing for it."
A spokeswoman for Norfolk County Council said: "With any road or path maintenance we have to work within our budget constraints and will always prioritise those areas needing the greatest attention.
"For the area the west side of Portland Street was deemed to be worse overall than the east side so repairs were carried out on this side first.
"The east side will be completed at a point in the future but we’re unable to confirm when this will be happening."

Teresa Stanton, who also lives on the east side of the street, added: "The east side is just as potted and dangerous if not worse than the west side of the street.
"A public information document arrived from Norfolk County Council about four days before resurfacing works were to start.
"It said the works would cost £37,000 but contained only basic road closure information and some plans, but it wasn't clear a one-sided approach was being taken."
