A Norwich city centre pub is to expand its outdoor seating area and add two brand new TVs after plans were given the go-ahead.

The Coach and Horses in Thorpe Road is planning to install four modern awnings to replace the gazebo it is currently using to cover its alfresco drinking area along with two big new televisions to show live sport.

It comes after Norwich City Council ordered the pub to tear down its gazebo in February, when it raised concerns the erection was ruining the historic pub's features.

According to the planning application approved by the city council, the new development will allow punters to "maximise the use of space" making the entire outdoor area usable during adverse weather conditions.

The boozer will also add some new planters around the area.

According to the application, the new awning would be "traditional" in design.

It comes as the pub's current landlords David and Rosemary Blake celebrate their 30th anniversary at the helm this year with the launch of their very own beer.
