A damaged bridge near Norwich will see up to a month of restrictions and closures to allow urgent survey work to be undertaken. 

Two lanes will be closed on the Postwick Bridge, which crosses the A47, due to damage to the surface of the bridge deck. 

The closure will allow maintenance teams to conduct investigations on what repairs are needed.

Norfolk County Council has said "every effort will be made to minimise disruption" and any road closures will take place overnight.

The lane closures will remain in place while the investigations are carried out and this is set to take at least four weeks. 

While the A47 trunk road is owned and maintained by National Highways, it carries a county road, the NDR, which Norfolk County Council are responsible for.

The county council and National Highways are in discussion to agree on what remedial works are required to ensure the bridge is fully repaired.

Part of the Postwick Hub, it saw £120,000 worth of repair works in early 2019 as part of a £27.7m shake-up, which was also preceded by a £65,000 road resurfacing.
