The mum of a 13-year-old who was mugged in a park near a primary school has revealed he "almost fainted" when he got home.

Alina Szabo moved to Cringleford in August this year with her husband and son.

However at around 3.30pm on Sunday, September 24, her son - who wishes to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation - was robbed.

It happened while out with his friends, by a man believed to be between 30 and 40 years old at a park in Dragonfly Lane, Cringleford.

The lad's mum, 34, recalled how her son was "shaking when he came home" after the mugging, saying: "He went to the park with his friends.

"A man came up behind him and demanded he hand over his cross-body bag, which had his phone, keys and wallet in.

"My son came running back home, extremely scared and shaking - he almost fainted before he got in the house."

Mrs Szabo reported the incident to police who are appealing for people in the area to check any CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to find the man.

A police spokeswoman said: "The incident involved a man aged 30 to 40 approaching a young teenage male and demanding he hand over his black canvas bag which contained a mobile phone, keys and wallet.

"Inquiries are continuing and we are appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward."

Mrs Szabo added: "My son doesn't want to go out now at all because he's scared and so am I.

"I'm honestly shocked - I thought this was a safe neighbourhood - and stunned a grown man could do that to a teenager."
