As autumn gets well under way and the temperature drops, pub-goers are retreating from beer gardens in search of the warmth indoors. 

Here are five of the cosiest pubs in Norwich according to our readers. 

1. Adam and Eve

Located close to Norwich Cathedral, the historic pub is out of the way of traffic and sits by the river.

The building might be reputed to be haunted but it is still a favourite among readers for the city's cosiest pub.

2. The Rivergarden

Where: 36 Yarmouth Road, Norwich, NR7 0EQ

The pub is located next to Whitlingham Broad and underwent an £80,000 refurbishment last year. 

The venue also has a kitchen and serves food seven days a week as well as hosting a variety of activities such as yoga classes. 

3. Duke of Wellington

Where: Waterloo Road, Norwich, NR3 1EG

The building has 'many nooks and crannies' and even features a red-brick WWII air raid shelter which is visible through a sheet of glass laid into the floor. 

The pub serves a selection of up to 32 ales and allows visitors to order takeaways to eat inside.

4. The Malt and Mardle

Where: 163 Magdalen Street, Norwich, NR3 1NF

The cosy space opened in 2021 and now hosts a variety of events including quizzes, tap takeovers and pie nights. 

The pub's name originates from Norfolk dialect, 'mardle' meaning to chat or gossip. 

5. Golden Star

Where: 57 Colegate, Norwich, NR3 1DD

The pub serves hearty food throughout the week including roast dinners on Sundays.

Also on the menu is sticky toffee pudding and a mushroom and chestnut wellington.
