A city coffee shop is expanding as word about their excellent bakes spread so much that they have outgrown the kitchen.
The Woods opened in Roundtree Close, next to Sprowston Retail Park, in 2018 as an interior design business named Woods Interiors.
But at the end of 2021, Daren and Lorraine Wood made a decision which would see their business taken to new heights – opening Woods Coffee Bar.
Lorraine said: “After a few months of having the coffee shop open we found our incredible baker Josh Easter and he has single-handedly transformed the business with his talent.

“We’ve been busier than ever before and people are so desperate for Josh’s bakes we have outgrown our humble coffee bar kitchen.”
However, when the premises opposite their shop in Roundtree Close became empty – the couple knew what they had to do.
Lorraine said: “The new kitchen and bakery counter have been in the works since June and now, just a few days from opening we are so excited.”
The new premises will open as a kitchen and counter for folks to go and buy fresh bread and bakery items to ease the footfall on the coffee bar as they cannot cope with the current numbers trying to get hold of bakes.

Lorraine said: “Josh’s sourdough bread and brioche have been really popular, but he is very good with the old school bakes which have seen become increasingly popular and he captures those nostalgic flavours really well.
“My personal favourite that he does is cornflake tart – and Josh’s portion size really competes with other city bakeries.”

As well as selling all the favourites from the counter, the new business, The Secret Bake will be selling wholesale to businesses as well as offering bespoke celebration cakes.
The grand opening of the new counter will take place Saturday, October 28 from 10am and there will be lots of freebies and money-off vouchers up for grab.
