Lucy Raff to launch new online business Tulastra Studio

Lucy Raff ran Lucent Jewellery Studios from Norwich for 20 years but was forced to close it in September due to rising costs.

She is set to bounce back in the new year with the launch of Tulastra Studio, a new company offering graphic design prints, homeware and branding support for other small businesses.

Mrs Raff said: "I closed Lucent in September and to be honest it's been really tough - Lucent was me. 

"My career and business were everything so it felt like losing a limb.

"But in life you go through cycles - you know when you're approaching a fork in the road and it's time to try something different."

She explained her passion for graphic design grew through her work with Lucent and said it felt right to channel it into her next business.

"I had been making really nice cards to go with the jewellery I sold which people loved," Mrs Raff said. "They added to the story of the jewellery and it became a big part of the company."

As well as producing quirky prints, Tulastra will offer products such as candles and crystal kits to display around the home.

Mrs Raff will also provide a service helping other small businesses with their branding using the skills she gained running Lucent, from creating their logos to designing full websites.

Tulastra will be just as personal to Mrs Raff as Lucent was, with 'Tula' being the name of her puppy and 'astra' coming from her love of stars and celestial bodies.

The business will operate online from a central website but the prints will also be available from Etsy and the homeware will be listed on Not On The High Street.
