A Norfolk youth football team has been suspended from its league after a "serious incident" involving a spectator and a referee.
During a match between Diss Town Football Club U13 and Spixworth Youth Football Club U13 the referee received physical abuse from a spectator.
As a result of the incident Spixworth Youth Football Club U13s have had their fixtures suspended until an investigation has taken place.
A spokesman for Norfolk County FA said: "Norfolk FA are aware of a serious incident of physical abuse from a spectator towards a registered match official at a youth game earlier today.
"Through working with the Norfolk Combined Youth Football League (NCYFL) we can confirm that the team in question has had its fixtures suspended while further investigation into the incident takes place.
"We at the NCYFL will do all we can to support the victim, while reiterating our stance that we strongly condemn, and will not accept any form of abuse within our local game."
In a post on social media Spixworth Youth FC said they are "disgusted" by the actions of the spectator during their game.
"The club takes a zero tolerance approach to this behaviour," the post added.
"We have reached out to Diss to apologise and will cooperate with all investigations."
