Jurors in the trial of a man accused of the manslaughter of 58-year-old following a fight outside a Norfolk pub have been sent out to consider verdicts in the case.
The jury have heard evidence in the case of a man in his 40s from Norfolk, who cannot be named for legal reasons but who we are calling D, who was charged following the death of Dale Jackson.
It follows a fight near the Suffield Arms pub at Thorpe Market in which Mr Jackson suffered a fractured skull and bleed on the brain.
Mr Jackson was airlifted to hospital following the incident on September 17 2021 but died a few days later.
D has gone on trial at Norwich Crown Court having denied manslaughter.
Judge Alice Robinson sent out jurors to consider their verdicts in the case at 3.54pm on Monday (December 11) after she finished summing up evidence.
The seven men and five women on the jury were sent home for the day at 4.30pm before being sent back out to continue deliberations in the case at 10.11am on Tuesday (December 12).
As previously reported the prosecution assert D had not been acting in self defence when he punched out at Mr Jackson who "didn't even see the punch that was coming" before it connected and rendered him "unconscious on his feet".
Mr Jackson, from Cromer, "fell straight back and because he was unconscious didn't break his fall at all."
D told jurors he had never intended to hurt Mr Jackson and cannot remember punching him.
He said he thought he was going to get hit and "ducked down" but then just saw Mr Jackson "fall backwards".
The trial continues.
