An Australian publication has named Norwich Castle one of the 'most incredible buildings in the world'.
The landmark was listed alongside the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris as one to visit in 2024 by Traveller.
Construction of the castle was started by William the Conqueror after the Battle of Hastings and completed by his son Henry I in 1121 – making it one of the most spectacular palaces in Europe at the time.
A major £15m redevelopment of the castle's medieval keep is under way to restore it to its 12th-century glory with the reinstatement of the original floors and room spaces.

There will be more than 1,000 treasures of international importance on display in the keep thanks to a partnership with the British Museum, showcasing artefacts from the Norman Conquest to the reign of Henry VIII.
Visitors will be able to take part in immersive experiences throughout the keep and a new glass bridge and lift will make all floors of the castle accessible.
The work on Norwich Castle began in 2020 and is set to be completed next summer.
