Plans have been unveiled for a new dental surgery in one of Norfolk's fastest growing areas. 

Dersingham-based Jubilee Court Dental is hoping to open a new premises in Norwich Road, Wymondham. 

The plans would see the former Coffee Inc cafe converted into a private surgery, which would be open from 8.30am until 5.30pm.

Application documents submitted to South Norfolk Council outline proposals for "a  reception/waiting room, wheelchair accessible toilet, x-ray room, staff room with toilet, decontamination room, storage room and two surgeries".

Jubilee Court claims planning permission is not required for the surgery, but has requested permission from South Norfolk Council to convert the ground floor into a kitchen and bathroom space.

The news comes as local politicians continue to warn of a shortage of infrastructure in and around Wymondham, with many arguing a growing population is pushing the area to breaking point.

Some have even called for developers to stop building until they can provide a solution to help prevent locals being pushed out of GPs, dentists and schools. 

In the 10 years from 2001 to 2011, Wymondham’s population grew by 15pc from 12,539 to 14,405.

By 2020, almost 17,000 were estimated to be living in the market town - with hundreds more homes still on the way and nearby Hethersett also rapidly expanding.
