A barman from Norwich has been shortlisted for a national award.

James Wright, who works at 11th and Social in Upper King Street, has been recognised among 15 other bartenders in the line-up for Bar Magazine's Best Mixologist title.

Bar Magazine said the title would be judged on "creativity, flair and understanding of flavour within cocktail artistry".

Mr Wright said: "It’s a really surreal feeling to be recognised alongside people that you not only look up to but also learn from and aspire to be like.

"I’ve always had the same goal to help the hospitality scene in Norfolk grow and help it and the people who work in it get the recognition they deserve.

"This is definitely a really big step in the right direction."

11th & Social, which is inspired by the New York cocktail scene, opened in June this year and is the first venture of Matthew Dakers who has been in the industry for 25 years.

The winner will be announced in a ceremony in London on January 22.
