A popular NR2 pub has seen a request to extend the opening hours of its new premises refused.
The Fat Cat, in West End Street, had applied to be able to keep its new bar open until 1am on Friday and Saturday, 12.30am Monday to Thursday and 11pm on Sunday and bank holidays.
Norwich City Council rejected the application though on the basis the site is outside the city's Late Night Activity Zone and would "result in harm to residential amenity through noise and disturbance".
The space - which forms an extension to The Fat Cat's current pub in West End Street - was approved by the authority in January last year.
The project was given the green light on the condition that the bar would not stay open past 11.30pm Mondays to Saturdays and 10.30pm on Sundays and bank holidays.
The Fat Cat has previously won national awards from the Campaign for Real Ale and was even chosen as the city's 'signature' pub by Evening News readers in January last year.
Its extension is in the neighbouring former Photostatic printing services shop, with a connection between the buildings to be used only by staff.
