The title of Norwich's best barista has now been awarded after a tightly-fought competition in the Norwich Lanes.

The contest took place on Friday evening at Buffalo Coffee Brewers in St Benedicts Street, which was opened by Giles Hayward-Smith in October 2023.

The purpose of the event, sponsored by Minor Figures and Square Mile Coffee Roasters, was to celebrate the vibrant coffee community in the city and beyond.

There were 12 competitors and in the first round they had to taste different coffees and guess the origin.

Next, they had to throw a dice to determine what pattern they had to pour in the latte art section.

The final round saw them wear goggles they couldn't see out of and they were then tasked with making a cappuccino.

The overall winner was Connor Green of Jarrolds, followed by runner-up Taylor Williams from Strangers and in third place was Ross McIntyre of Green Farm Coffee.

Mr Hayward-Smith said: "It was a superb evening for the Norwich coffee community and there were around 60 people there including spectators.

"It was so popular that we will be hosting another competition in the summer."
