Beleaguered businesses near the Heartsease roundabout have at least had something to smile about this week though - courtesy of an amusing road sign.
Norfolk County Council has apologised after a notice reading "pedestrian access to bisinesses only" popped up outside the Great Eastern Model Railways shop in Plumstead Road.
The sign appeared on Tuesday afternoon before being quickly taken down this morning.
Anne Martin and Helen Arnold, owners of the Great Eastern Model Railways shop, were quick to spot the blunder and shared it on social media.
Anne said: "We just laughed really.
"I spotted it and thought 'I'm sure that's not right'.
"We took a picture as a joke and it really took off on social media.

"We thought it would be funny to play on the fact we have had lots of 'bisiness' during the roadworks."
A spokeswoman for Norfolk County Council apologised for the mistake and "any annoyance it caused".
They added: "The issue was spotted the day after the sign was installed and it was then removed.

"Work to the roundabout is progressing well and we’d like to thank everyone affected again for their patience while we make these important facilities much safer for everyone.”
The £4.4m revamp of the roundabout started in September and has brought major disruption to the area.
Work is being completed in phases to improve safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians, and is due to finish in April.
