A month-long delay to the controversial £4.4m Heartsease roundabout revamp has been blasted as "not good enough" by business bosses and councillors.
Falling behind schedule because of "unexpected" problems with drainage, the delay means the final phase of work will now not start on March 26 to coincide with the Easter holidays - when rush hours would be quieter.
Graham Plant, the county council's cabinet member for highways, infrastructure and transport, has admitted the delay will "add to the frustration people are feeling".
He added: "We'll do everything we can to minimise disruption and complete the work as quickly as possible when the time comes.

"It's a large-scale project in a very busy area of the city’s network, but one that's vital to complete – not only to provide much-needed facilities for those walking, wheeling and cycling but, at the same time, to improve the roundabout’s currently very poor safety record."
However, the delay has been deemed "unacceptable" by those still dealing with the initial eight-month schedule.
Mathew Middleton, manager of Richardson's Norwich DIY Shop in Plumstead Road, said: "I think it's pathetic to be honest.
"We're so disappointed that the work's been delayed another month and the issues this will have on our customers.
"It seems like progress is very slow, as it always is with roadworks around the city.
"I'm not sure why they can't get it together and finish up the work - it shouldn't cost this much and take this long to do."
The final phase of work is now due to start on Saturday, April 13, with the council applying for a five-week permit, ending on Saturday, May 18.
Steve Morphew, leader of the Labour group at County Hall and a former leader of Norwich City Council, added: "Another month delay isn't good enough.

"Many were astonished at the original eight months and assumed contingencies for the unexpected must have been built in.
"Councillor Plant needs to up his game and get this turbocharged.
"It's costing businesses in the area and creating inconvenience for residents, so while every day counts the idea it will drag on until after Easter is unacceptable."
