March is an interesting time for garden visitors as spring bulbs and early blossoms bring splashes of colour.
These are the secret Norfolk spots opening to the public as part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS) in March 2024.
The NGS raises money for health and nursing charities through admissions and refreshments.

1. Hindringham Hall
Where: Blacksmiths Lane, Hindringham, NR21 0QA
When: Saturday, March 2, 10am-4pm
Price: Adults: £8, children: free
A delightful garden that surrounds a moated Grade 2-listed Tudor manor house (not open).
Features include a working vegetable garden, a Victorian nut walk, formal beds and bog and stream gardens. There is wheelchair access and dogs are not allowed.
Light refreshments will be on offer, including cakes, hot soup and sausage rolls, in aid of Hindringham Church.

2. East Ruston Old Vicarage
Where: East Ruston, NR12 9HN
When: Saturday, March 16, 12noon-5.30pm
Price: Adults: £13, children: £2
Expect various types of gardens across 32 acres, including walled, rose, fruit, vegetable, cutting, Mediterranean and exotic. There is wheelchair access, with dogs not permitted.
There will be light refreshments available on the day.
3. Gayton Hall
Where: Gayton Hall, King's Lynn, PE32 1PL
When: Sunday, March 24, 12noon-5pm
Price: Adults: £6, children: free (pre-booking essential)
A 20-acre semi-wild and wooded garden, where paths wind through a watery landscape.
There is also a good display of spring bulbs and a variety of unusual trees.
A wheelchair-friendly path runs around most of the garden and dogs are allowed on leads, with refreshments in aid of another charity.

4. Mannington Estate
Where: Mannington, NR11 7BB
When: Sunday, March 24, 11am-4.30pm
Price: Adults: £8, children: free
There are 20 acres to explore, including period and sensory gardens and a lake.
There is also a moated manor house (not open) and a special feature is the wildlife and wildflowers.
There is wheelchair access and dogs are allowed on leads.
