A long-running city business is on the market as the owner has announced plans to move on.

Richardson's of Norwich, in Plumstead Road, opened its doors to customers in the 1960s and has sold a range of hardware, homewares and DIY essentials for the past 60 years.

The store is also a registered post office for collect and drop services as well as a Wish collection point.

The company was saved from closing three years ago by Marcus Joyce, managing director at Belmore Tools, who bought the business.

"We helped to turn it into a going concern and have doubled our sales over the last few years," said Mr Joyce.

"We have reached the point where we don't feel that we can add much more to the business but someone else could."

Mr Joyce added that all of the jobs at the store are safe and that he is looking to sell it to someone who can continue to build the hardware business.

The yearly rent is valued at £28,770 and the annual business turnover is estimated to be around £240,000 a year.
