Norwich has been named one of the best city breaks in the UK for people who love the outdoors. 

Based on 10 factors such as hiking trails, restaurants, shopping opportunities, and museums, Village Hotels ranked 45 cities across the UK to find the top weekend staycations.   

In its overall list, Norwich was ranked the tenth-best trip in the country, just ahead of York, and fourth for those looking to enjoy some outdoor activities.   

Glasgow, Birmingham and Leeds were the cities that made the top three.

To score the outdoor activities, Village Hotels looked at the number of hiking trails in each location as found on AllTrails, as well as the number of results under the Outdoor Activity section on Tripadvisor per 100,000 population. 

Some of the top outdoor activities listed on Tripadvisor for the wider Norwich area include Norfolk Snowsports Club, the Marriott's Way walking trail, Barnham Broom Golf Course, Southern Comfort Mississippi Paddle Boat and Pub and Paddle. 

It comes after Time Out named Norwich one of the top 15 places to visit in the UK in 2024 alongside Bristol and Hull.
