An investigation has been launched after a grandmother claimed she was manhandled by security guards outside the Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital.
Julie Anne Cain, who was being treated at the time, said she was “brutally and roughly” restrained by two workers when trying to go outside for a cigarette.
She reported the incident to police who carried out an investigation but have since closed the case.
However, Serco, which employs the security guards said that an investigation into the incident has been launched.
Mrs Cain, 64, was admitted to hospital on January 29 due to a mental breakdown, which she said was brought on by her daughter’s cancer diagnosis in 2022, following the death of her other daughter from cancer 11 years ago.

The grandmother of nine, who lives in Costessey, said: "I got taken to the N&N around 5pm where I was kept in a room for a few hours.
"Around 9 to 10pm I wanted to go outside for some fresh air, have a cigarette and come back.
"However when I tried to go outside I was grabbed by two big security chaps who grabbed an arm each and dragged me back in - even though I wasn't resisting whatsoever.
"My right arm was really badly bruised - they didn't need to be so brutal and rough taking me back - I'm 5 ft 2in, 64 years old and weigh next to nothing.
"It was completely uncalled for."
Mrs Cain didn’t report the incident at the time and was moved to Hellesdon Hospital that evening.
A spokesman for the N&N said: "This matter is being investigated by Serco, who provide security services at the N&N.
"Mrs Cain's concerns are being looked into and we we'll be liaising directly with her when we have more information."

A police spokeswoman said: "Police received a report of assault on February 2.
"The incident occurred on January 29 between 6pm and 10pm at the N&N when the victim was restrained by a member of staff.
"Following an investigation by officers, all lines of enquiry have been exhausted and the case has been closed.
"Of course, we would always review any new information provided to us."
