A heritage project has benefited from the sales of a special beer at a city micropub.

Queer Norfolk has received a £280 boost following a fundraiser at The Malt and Mardle, in Magdalen Street, which sold a 'Queer Beer'.

The city's first micropub sold a specially brewed beer, 'Pallis Pale Ale', with all profits going towards the heritage endeavour.

Co-owner of the pub, Emily Bridges, said: “Our micropub has always championed local organisations and businesses, in addition to highly valuing heritage and inclusivity.

"We were thrilled to be able to help raise this money to support the Queer Norfolk project."

The organisation aims to increase access to Norfolk LGBTQ+ heritage by digitising collections and researching the area's LGBTQ+ history.

Adam Baker from the project said: “Thanks to the efforts of these two amazing local businesses, we will be able to continue running the project for the next 12 months."

The beer highlights Marietta Pallis, a noted ecologist based in Norfolk.

John Ridealgh from the Humber Doucy Brewing Co, which brewed and donated the beer, said: “This shows the impact that local businesses can have through small gestures."
