Parents and children looked on in shock after a fire broke out in a city play park.
The blaze happened when an area of soft asphalt under a climbing frame was seemingly set on fire at Bowers Avenue Park, also known as Spa Park, off Boundary Road in Mile Cross.
Ruby Sue, who lives in Hellesdon, was walking home from work when someone approached asking to call the fire service.
Ruby recorded a video as fire crews tackled the blaze and smoke drifted across the park.
The 23-year-old said: "A woman came up to me and asked if I could call the fire department as a fire had broke out at the park.
"I was shocked to see it when I walked up to the fence bordering the park with others who had also stopped to look.
"It looks like the flooring had been set alight near the slide - I could see people in the park with their kids while the fire was still going.
"I don't think anything was damaged and thankfully no one was hurt, but this park seems to be a hotspot for vandalism - it just doesn't have any luck.

"That's where children and families go to play, it's so upsetting.
"I can't believe it keeps happening - it's really not good for the area."
While it is currently unknown how the fire started, Ruby was told by other witnesses that a group of teenagers ran from the scene shortly after the blaze began.
