Having fun doesn't have to cost a fortune, with these free events running in Norwich over the May half-term holiday.

1. Children's Garden Centre Trail

Where: Notcutts, Daniels Road, Norwich, NR4 6QP

When: May 25-June 2

Pick up an entry form from the till and then solve the clues hidden around the garden centre.

Youngsters will receive a special sticker as a memento of their journey and will be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a children's gardening bundle.

2. Game On Trail

Where: Chantry Place, Norwich, NR1 3SH

When: May 25-June 2

This self-led trail is part of the Norwich Games Festival 2024 and visitors can pick up a map from HMV and then collect the letters on posters around the shopping centre. 

It features gaming-related facts and designs by Rudey Ratcliffe, a creative enterprise student at East Norfolk Sixth Form College, and there is the chance to win a £200 HMV voucher.

3. Manual for Kindness/Kindness Choir

Where: Norwich Theatre Royal, Theatre Street, Norwich, NR2 1RL

When: May 28-29/May 28, 1pm-2pm (booking essential)

Norwich Theatre's May half-term programme, which is available to view in full at norwichtheatre.org, features several free events. 

This includes the Manual for Kindness, a free resource available at the box office with 10 pages of creative activities, and the Kindness Choir family-friendly singalong, which is also BSL (British Sign Language) friendly.

4. Unicorn Alpacas

Where: Castle Gardens, Castle Quarter, Norwich, NR1 3DD

When: May 29, 12noon-4pm

Unicorn Alpaca Walks, based in Shipmeadow near Beccles, are coming to Norwich over the half-term holiday. 

As well as alpacas, they will also bring along some rare breed and exotic animals from their sanctuary Happily Ever After, including miniature horses and tortoises.

5. Free activities at Norwich Games Festival

Where: Various locations with the event hub at The Forum, Millennium Plain, Norwich, NR2 1TF

When: May 30-June 1

Norwich Games Festival, presented by The Forum, promises three days of fun, featuring the best in retro and contemporary gaming, the chance to play and insight into the industry.
