Another person with sight loss will have a guide dog thanks to staff and customers at a city supermarket.

Two Norwich fundraisers for the Guide Dogs UK charity celebrated the great achievement as part of National Volunteer Week.

More than £2,500 was raised at the Queens Road Sainsbury's, where staff have named a guide dog puppy Queenie.

The black labrador-retriever cross was one of a litter of five pups born on the fundraiser Eddie's birthday.

The decision to fundraise was made when store manager Jason Symonds and his staff met Eddie and his guide dog Max.

Eddie and his wife Sharron, who works at Sainsbury's, volunteer for Guide Dogs UK.

Sharron said: "Everyone noticed the confidence and independence guide dog Max gave to Eddie, after waiting for a dog.

"It was decided to name a guide dog puppy Queenie to provide a lifesaver guide dog to another person living with sight loss."

The store held several fundraising events, drawing significant customer donations.

Eddie and Max have participated in various Guide Dogs UK events, with highlights including a surprise meeting with Norwich City star Marcelino Nunez.
