Journey times on most services between Norwich and London have been cut amid changes to Greater Anglia timetables.

The busy route to the capital will have shorter journeys on its off-peak and selected peak services.

Most off-peak services are now expected to take one hour and 47 minutes, with the 8am Norwich to London and 5pm London to Norwich weekday services taking less than one hour and 40 minutes.

Elsewhere in Norfolk, the Norwich to Great Yarmouth line is to see more trains run on Monday, Friday and Saturday during the peak summer season.

Jamie Burles, managing director, of Greater Anglia said: “We are pleased to be making further timetable improvements in our June timetable change, including additional services, some quicker journey times and our summer season trains.

"We’ll continue to adjust our timetable in line with emerging demand and look to make further improvements whenever practical, working with regional partners on the case for additional services wherever appropriate.”

The changes come into force on June 2.
