The owners of a new city eatery have made an unusual request just days before opening their doors.

First Draft Kitchen is ready to open to customers in St Giles Street on Thursday.

Formerly the home of Al Dente, the new bar and restaurant will host chef pop-ups with different cuisines on offer every few weeks.

However, as the last of the decorating on site is under way, a unique request has been made.

"Calling the worst artists in Norwich!" said owner Daisy Larkan, who is opening the venue alongside her husband Dan.

"This is the bad art wall. We need to fill it.

"This weekend only, turn up at our empty bar with your worst pieces - finger painting, awkward collage, GCSE final project - and, if it's bad enough, we will pay you £1 for it and hang it forever, until we get bored of it.

"Be part of something! Real artists need not apply."

Daisy came up with the idea after looking for ideas for decorating the bar.

"I didn't want just corporate and generic art on the walls," she said.

"We've already got some wacky decorations - including a bathtub - and I wanted to carry on with the fun.

"Everyone has embarrassing and painful art that we are going to display on our walls.

"We have lots of truly terrible pieces already and can't wait to see some more creations!"

With First Draft Bar and Restaurant set to open next week, it's been all hands on deck to get the place shipshape.

"We are in the last-minute panic stages of things still to do," added Daisy.

"It is utter chaos, but I can't wait to open."
