A former bank branch could soon be transformed into a betting shop.

Plans have been submitted by betting giants, Betfred, to take over the former TSB branch on Magdalen Street.

As part of the plans, the shop entrance will move to the location of the current ATM, opening up a much larger window into the shop.

The betting company has also applied to open the site between 8am and 10pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 9am until 10pm on Sundays.

There is a Betfred directly opposite the former TSB branch, and it is unclear whether that site will be closing as part of the plans.

The TSB site closed in June 2022 and it has remained empty since.

It was one of 70 branches around the country to be culled after a spokesman for the company revealed that only six people were using the branch regularly.

Norwich City Council has set July 24 as a target date to reach a decision.
