A major high-street clothing brand has announced the shock closure of its city branch.

The Chantry Place Superdry store shut its doors as the company continues to experience a troubled time.

In January, the business said it was looking at various “cost-saving options” after reports it was considering a major restructuring which could include store closures and job cuts.

Although the reason for the Norwich closure is not yet known, the store is currently being cleared out of all clothes and displays.

Paul McCarthy, general manager at Chantry Place, said: “Superdry has left Chantry Place whilst it looks to restructure its business across the UK.

"We are already in talks with other brands to join us and recently we welcomed Mango and Flannels to the Centre."

On both the store doors reads a sign: "This store is now closed".

The chain did occupy the large corner space on 401 Chapelfield Road next to the Yo Sushi restaurant.

However, the unit has now been emptied of all stock, although its manikins remain unclothed in shop windows.

It means the fashion brands nearest branch to the region is now Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.
