Event organisers have revealed the future of a hugely popular Norfolk fete.

Costessey Fete and Fayre, which used to be held in Longwater Lane Park,  upsized to the Norfolk Showground this year following a huge increase in interest.

A staggering 18,000 people flocked to the £2 fete in May and now event organisers are keen to rename the fayre to something more appropriate.

Gary Blundell has been organising the Costessey Fete and Fayre for almost nine years.

"This was our biggest year yet," he said,

"Normally we have 10,000 and this year 18,000 came in and out - once you've paid you can come and go as you please."

"It was a really successful day."

Mr Blundell took to social media to ask the community how they felt about a change of name for the fete due to its growing popularity and size - providing options such as NorFest and Norwich Community Festival.

The council is no longer affiliated with the event, which is now registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC).

Mr Blundell organised the 2024 fair with Jeremy 'Jezza' King and a team of volunteers.

"We've got some tweaks - the layout will change and we've got some new free attractions," he added.

"We will also have more military and reenactment displays.

"One of the things we want to focus on is getting more people there in the evening - we have great live music and want to bring more people in to enjoy the bands!

"But we want everyone to remain assured this is still a community event with affordability at the forefront - the price will remain the same."
