There will be a chance to be treated like royalty this summer as a classic fairytale-themed event is heading to Norwich.

A Beauty and the Beast-themed afternoon tea is being held at the Assembly House in Theatre Street with an array of "dainty cakes, scones, sandwiches" that will draw on key themes from the classic tale.

The Look Back and Remember Mirror Gateau Opera and the Beast’s Chocolate Billionaire’s Shot Glass will be new items on the menu for this afternoon tea, as well as the Enchanted Rose Macaron and the Happy Ever Afters Castle.

Chef director Richard Hughes said: "The original Beauty and the Beast book was written in 1740, just 14 years before The Assembly House was built in its current form.

"We wanted to celebrate a timeless story that has been told in a countless number of ways by telling our own tale in cake.

"Themed teas at The Assembly House involve themed cakes, menus and some savouries but the team do not dress up or decorate the restaurant, although we always encourage people to dress up if they’d like.

"We like to think that the Georgian’s original theme for our rooms - glamour and chandeliers - is similar to that of the Beast’s castle."

There will also be two tiers of savoury treats to enjoy and the price includes either two pots of tea for one, two soft drinks from the menu or two coffees or hot chocolates.

Themed cocktails, shakes and prosecco are also on offer for an extra charge.

The afternoon tea is running from July 1 to September 10 and costs £32 for adults and £18.95 for children under the age of 12.
