A man in his 20s has been arrested after two shops in NR3 were robbed at knifepoint.
The robberies happened on Sunday at the Silver Road Post Office and Angel Stores and saw Angel Road cordoned off by armed police at around 5.30pm.
A man entered the businesses between 4pm and 6pm, armed with a knife, and demanded money.
He left the Silver Road premises with between £300 and £400 in cash.
Emergency services including a police armed response vehicle, fire crew and ambulance attended the scene.
A police negotiator spoke to a man who had climbed on to the roof of a house in Angel Road.
Victoria Trattles, an eyewitness who lives in the area, said that locals had been "very shocked and concerned" by the incident.
The roadblock remained in place on the street until 6.15pm.
Officers arrested a man on suspicion of two counts of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.
He was taken to Aylsham Police Station for questioning where he remains.
