A photographer has described how he captured images of a house fire on a busy estate while operating his drone on a test flight.

Lee Johnson was flying the device over the Costessey area in preparation for a trip later this week when he smelled burning.

He explained: "I was flying my drone around setting it up for a trip to the Peak District tomorrow.

"I realised I could smell a horrible burning smell and see smoke in the distance.

"I flew over to it and was horrified to see the house on fire.

"Having been through this myself I can sympathise with all involved."

The images show a plume and flames emerging from the home in Sunny Close, which caught fire at around 8pm on Monday.
