Nearly 20 driving offences including mobile phone use were reported within an hour by police in Norwich this week.

Eighteen of the 'four fatal offences' were detected in Boundary Road on Tuesday morning during a routine patrol from the Norfolk & Suffolk Roads and Armed Policing Team.

Prioritised by police to reduce the number of incidents on the road, the 'fatal four offences' include driving while distracted, not wearing a seatbelt, speeding and drink and drug driving.

In total, 40 traffic offence reports were issued on June 25.

Twenty drivers were reported for using a mobile phone while driving and eight were reported for not wearing seatbelts.

The remaining 12 offences were issued to drivers who had no MOT, no insurance, illegal number plates and window tints.

The Norfolk & Suffolk Roads and Armed Policing Team has since posted on X, formerly Twitter, warning drivers about the dangers of using a mobile phone while driving.

It reads: "They are called fatal offences for a reason - using your mobile phone behind the wheel doesn't just put your life at risk.

"Don't be selfish. Get off your phone."
