From a colourful parade to a duck race, here is all you need to know ahead of the Lord Mayor's Weekend 2024 in Norwich.

When will the Lord Mayor's Weekend 2024 take place?

The Lord Mayor's Weekend 2024, hosted by Norwich City Council, will take place on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14 and it is free to attend.

When is the Lord Mayor's Procession and what is the route?

The main event is the Lord Mayor's Procession on July 13, with schools, community groups, charities and businesses taking part in the colourful parade. 

It will start at 3pm at Norwich Cathedral and go via Tombland, Queen Street, St Andrews Street, Exchange Street, Gentleman’s Walk past Norwich Market, Haymarket, Brigg Street and Theatre Street, ending in Chapelfield Gardens. 

The parade theme for 2024 is ‘Norwich Loves You’ and collections taken during the day will go to The Benjamin Foundation's BOOM! Young Carers - the Civic Charity Appeal for 2024-25.

Yes, pre-book a spot in the accessible viewing area in Brigg Street by emailing events@norwich.gov.uk or call 01603 989333.

What else is happening in Norwich on Saturday, July 13?

There will be entertainment in Chapelfield Gardens from midday on Saturday, July 13, including live music and workshops. 

The music headliner is the UK Foo Fighters, who will perform at 8.45pm.

Outside The Forum, there will be free 30-minute performances of family-friendly play 'From Norwich with Love' at 12.30pm and 2pm.

When is the Great Norwich Duck Race? 

The Great Norwich Duck Race will take place from 2.30pm onwards on Sunday, July 14 at Lady Julian Bridge at Riverside. 

The charity fundraising event is organised by the 1st Norwich Sea Scouts in association with Norwich City Council, with cash prizes totalling £1,000 up for grabs.

Are there any road closures?

Yes, there will be some road closures, particularly during the Lord Mayor’s Procession.
