A woman hit and spat at police officers after being arrested for drink driving following an argument about a dog.

Camilla Moore, of Heron Way in Easton, pleaded guilty at Norwich Magistrates Court today to drink driving, driving without a valid test certificate, two counts of assault on an emergency worker and criminal damage to property.

Collette Harper, prosecuting, said Moore was arrested after being more than twice the legal alcohol limit on May 23.

It began after concerns were raised during a dispute over a dog Moore had adopted six weeks earlier, with the previous owner raising concerns about the dog's welfare after they had a later conversation about the dog biting.

The 32-year-old was said to have driven off with the dog after being confronted by the previous owner, being seen with half a bottle of wine in the passenger's seat.

Moore returned home at 10am, where police were waiting, and was arrested by PC Daisy Smith.

While at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre it's said Moore became "verbally abusive" in the holding area.

In a statement by PC Mark Donnelly-Gallagher, Moore walked up and "punched him directly in the chest".

After being arrested for the assault Moore refused to go into a cell and subsequently spat at PC Smith "hitting her neck and body armour".

Moore also destroyed paper police records and when asked why she did it, she said "it's a pain for you and it made me feel better".

Moore's defence said she had "developed a strong bond with the dog" and added her reaction at the station was because the police had "used force on Moore as she wasn't doing what she was told".

It was also noted that Moore "didn't appreciate it at the time, but was very much over the limit" when getting in the car.

Gillian Philpott, chairwoman of the bench, fined Moore £280 and disqualified her from driving for 20 months - subject to attending a drink drive course which could reduce the time.

Moore was also ordered to pay £100 each for the assault on the officers.
