The Norwich leg of the world's biggest chicken wing festival has been cancelled.

Richard Thacker, 40, launched Wing Fest in London in 2014 and has since expanded it to Manchester, Derby and Bristol.

Earlier this year he added Sheffield and Norwich to the roster, revealing the Norwich event would take place at Junkyard Market from August 16 to August 18, 2024.

The festival, which has attracted crowds of up to 20,000 people, aims to promote the "local chicken wing scene".

Mr Thacker previously said he would invite at least 12 nearby chicken wing traders who would be in with a chance of winning public and judges' awards for their food.

Guests were also set to enjoy eating competitions, axe throwing and live music.

But the option to purchase tickets for Norwich has since been removed from the site.

A message on the webpage says: "Unfortunately we have had to postpone Norwich Wing Fest until 2025.

"All ticket holders have been notified by email and given a refund or ticket swap options."

The reason for this year's cancellation remains unknown but Mr Thacker has been contacted for comment.

Mr Thacker grew up in Norwich and his dad used to have a chicken farm in Suffolk, where he would spend his school holidays helping out.

He then opened Randy's Wing Bar in London and arranged his first festival as a way to promote the business. 

But the festival was so successful that he ended up closing the bar to focus on its expansion.
